Bass Fishing Bare Necessities
Bass fishing is similar to any other kind of fishing. Fishing rod is used for catching fish in bass fishing. In bass fishing, there are different kinds of equipment which may be specifically for bass fishing use only. Bass fishing tips are necessary to help the bass fishing beginner get his bearings.
Rods And Reels Used In Bass Fishing
The length of the rod used in bass fishing is actually a matter of preference for the fisherman. It is true that the longer the length of the rod the more sensitive it is but there is a limit to how long a rod can be. A longer rod can also be a killer when it comes to casting which can turn out to be too difficult with that much length. Choose a rod that is comfortable to cast since the longer it is the better your cast should be but if you already have some difficulty casting a long rod then forget it. Shorter rods are supposed to easier to handle but may be difficult to get a good cast out of.
Different types of reels are available which are used for different purposes. For bass fishing, the reels can come in several types. Newer versions of a bass fishing reel come with a braking system that can slow the turn of the spool as you cast making it easier. Bait casting style reels are usually the ones used for bass fishing. These types of reels are ideal because they have plenty of ball bearings to make the spin smoother. The more bearing there are the more expensive a reel may be.
Lures And Lines: Choose It Very Wisely
Lines are usually chosen depending on the capacity of the rod and reel. Another thing to consider when it comes to lines in bass fishing is the size of the bas sin the area where you will be fishing. Many choose a line that ranges from eight to ten pounds or up to fifteen pounds to accommodate the average weight of the fish along with other considerations. The kinds of lures needed for bass fishing are usually those that are spinner baits. In bass fishing various kind of hooks are available for various kind of baits.
Patience is the key to have good result in fishing. Silence is also another important thing to employ when fishing. Bass can be wary of people; therefore less movement and less noise are advantageous for the fishermen.

As a recreational fish they are priced very highly. Fisherman who specialise in redfish are called redfish anglers. Perhaps the most widely utilized technique for fishing redfish is to anchor along a channel edge or shoal and bottom fish with cut peeler crab bait or other baits including, squid, cut spot, live spot and even chicken breast soaked in peeler crab oil. All of these are excellent techniques.
In the Virginia, in areas like Pocomoke and Tangier Sounds, anglers usually look for a somewhat sharp drop and anchor so that the boat lies on the slope of the channel. This depth is only a starting point and can vary greatly.
Many anglers prefer to use the opportunity offered by the last 2 hours of the incoming current and the first 2 hours of the outgoing. The fishing is more likely to be really good if it coincides with dusk.
Other techniques for catching Virginia and Chesapeake Bay redfish include trolling large spoons in the lower bay areas.
Surf fishing is a popular way to catch redfish in Virginia. Along the Atlantic beaches and around Virginia barrier islands, anglers use a fish finder or other rig and fish with baits such as whole spot, spot fillets or heads, mullet, bluefish fillets, crabs, shrimp or other baits. Tips on Night Fishing for Bass
Article brought to you by Saltwater Fishing Rods and Reels
Later in the summer bass will move to deeper waters and won’t be found in the shallower waters. When the fish are within the twenty foot zone, night fishing will be most productive but any deeper and it will be hard to maintain contact with the lure and difficult to hook the fish when they bite.

Where to Find Bass
You could try shallow shorelines in lakes, especially where there are weed beds, rocky banks abundant with crawfish, man made structures in reservoirs such as underwater roadbeds, or illuminated boat docks.
Tackle and Equipment
It is usual to use heavier tackle for night fishing than you would use in the daytime as a heavier lure is easier to feel at night and stouter equipment will help to land bigger fish. Some effective lures include spinnerbaits, hair jigs and rubber jigs with pork rind, plastic worms or topwater lures. Contrasting colours are very effective at night for sub surface lures. Try purple spinner bait with red pork rind for instance.
It can be very helpful to use fluorescent line and a black light when night fishing. The line will glow under the black light and greatly increase the ability to detect subtle strikes. Some anglers however are convinced that black lights spook the bass! Spinnerbaits or other lures with more feel are also effective for night fishing.
When night fishing many anglers will only take one or two rods and reels to avoid broken equipment or tangling. Single hook lures such as jigs or spinnerbaits are favoured by many. Be extra careful after dark, carry a flashlight and ensure that your boat’s lights are working correctly.
