Bass Fishing on Lake Erie

Joe Balog has been fishing on Lake Erie all his life and is now a top national tournament champion. Joe, who lives in Harrison Township in Michigan says that you can catch bass all year round on Lake Erie although for trophy bass October is the ebst time.

Joe travels all over the country to attend tournaments and to appear on shows and seminars. He is always at the forefront of using the latest techniques and tackle and is a known authority on smallmouth bass fishing. During October, he says, as the lake waters cool the bass move to the shallower waters of Lake Erie and group up after being relatively scattered throughout the summer So if you catch one bass there’s sure to be more close by!

He also notes that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to catch larger smallmouth bass and says that “We’ve got to protect our bass in order to have great fishing in the future.”
